I want to quickly thank Dan for his help with the avatar plug-in – and Laura for holding my hand through my Word Press 2.0 upgrade! I think it will be easier to figure out who is posting what with the avatars, since this is a multi author blog.
So, here are a team of walkers who have dedicated themselves to the Breast Cancer 3 Day by walking 60 miles over 3 days, and raising $13,200.00 as a team in order to do it. We keep asking everyone for their help. And, you wonder, how can I help? There are many things you can do to help our team!
Every little bit helps!
My precious pooch, Snoopy, is my training partner every evening. We did our mile around the neighborhood last night…though it’s not as intense of a walk with him, as I cannot keep a steady pace when he is stopping at every tree and leaf to lift his leg, and yanking the leash to get at squirrels and birds! But, we’re walking!
Are you linking to our website with our super cool 3 day button? If so, leave a note in the comments, and we’ll add you to the blogroll here!
We started this group blog in order to share our fundraising and training experiences. It would be great if it helped to bring in more donations too, so here’s how you can help!
Just download this little graphic (no hot-linking please!):

And link it from your blog to http://www.3daymom.com – And then post about what we’re doing – easy peasy, right? Seriously people…word of mouth if what we need here! Spread the word…if everyone tells just one friend…
I can NOT thank Laura enough for stepping up to the plate to help us out after we were dissed by Web-Divas.com
If you want to read about the whole debaucle, go here, then here, and last but not least, here. Those 3 blogs pretty much sum things up. I was left totally stuck when this happened, and Laura saved us – and my sanity. And doesn’t this site design ROCK? She just reached into my brain and took out what I was dreaming of…smooches to you babe!!
I am feeling my hamstrings today. Not sure why today more than any other, though we did walk a lot this weekend. Went to Disney’s MGM Studios on Saturday with Colleen and family…she walked us all over that park ! Nice way to get in a few miles, though! Sunday, Colleen, Dana and I did our beach walk again, which the pedometer tracked at 2.6 miles this week for some reason. So I did more walking in 2 consecutive days than I have before…I think I need to stretch more.
During my training, I have found that it is much easier to walk on a treadmill than it is on actual ground. Easier on my body, feet, joints, knee & back. We walk on the treadmill at the YMCA because we are members and pay monthly for it…so what started out as a “get healthy & exercise”, has now, through the 3 day, turned into “build our stamina”. So we alternate between outside walks, since we live in paradise and can do so in January
…and walking the treadmill inside the Y, which smells like the high school locker room and brings back bad memories of P.E. class wth Mrs. Lasher! I can set the treadmill for different heights, speeds, and set my own mileage, and I find that I burn many calories doing so…but it is still not the same as walking outside on actual pavement…so as we continue our training, I feel we must do more “outside” walking than “inside”.
I had my first spinning class tonight. Yes, I’m insane. It was tough, and I actually got a bit “damp” (I don’t sweat). Too bad I can’t bike my 60 miles for the three day, because I felt like I went a few miles – at least! My calves were killing me after 30 minutes of spinning. By that time, Cheryl and Dana were at the YMCA, so I did a mile on the treadmill.
The good part about spin class was that the instructor played great music. The bad part about spinning class was that the instructor was way. too. perky. I seriously don’t know how she was able to spin AND call out commands!
If I can’t walk tomorrow, I only have myself to blame.
