Tomorrow morning, my 10 year old and I are joining Cheryl and Dana on a 10 mile walk.  I’m a little intimidated - for one, I think the most I’ve walked is 6 miles.  Secondly, we’re meeting at 7:30am.  I am so NOT a morning person!

Even my 10 year old knows this - she emailed Cheryl and wrote:

See you tomorrow bright and early (If I can get mommy up once the alarm goes off, LOL)

I’m sure one of us will report back tomorrow on how the walk went.  Not sure if it will be me - I may need a nap to recover!

We will be holding our second Publix fundraiser at the Mitchell Ranch Publix (Little Rd & SR 54, New Port Richey) , April 29-30. If you live in the area come out and say hello, share your story, and show your support!

Walking those 10 miles with Cheryl was great.  My feet started to kill me, but my biggest issue was I got hungry.  I have to carry more snacks with me.  I knew that would probably be an issue for me and it’s easily resolved.  I didn’t get any blisters, but I do need to get some of those really good socks like Cheryl & Colleen.  I want to start doing two 5 miles walks during the week and the 10 mile on the weekend for a month, then start doing 2 miles walks back to back.  Think we’ll be ready for 15 miles easily in a few months.

We did it! I mapped out a 10 mile walk on the trails/neighborhoods by my house, and Dana and completed 10 miles yesterday morning! We started at 07:30, it took 3 hours and 20 minutes, which means we have picked up our pace in the last few months…I remember when it took us 3 hours to do 7 miles! We took a rest break at the 5 mile mark, ate some fruit, stretched, and moved on. We did good, I felt great, other than my feet hurting after about 7 miles…but not so much that I couldn’t keep moving. My only issues this morning were my hamstrings are feeling tight. We’re going to stick with 10 for a few months before we bump it up another notch. Colleen…are you & Catherine with us?

Cheryl just called me and said she was looking at the homepage of our local newspaper, the St. Petersburg Times, specifically, the section they have for blogs written by staffers and local readers.  Our blog, 3DayMom, is featured as the blog spotlight!!  I’m not sure how long the link will feature us, so here’s a screenshot so you can all share our excitement!

They said we’re “A sharply designed blog with a purpose — to talk about training and fundraising for a 60-mile walk to fight breast cancer.”

I can’t take credit for the sharply designed part - thanks again Laura!

This week I mailed in two donations from friends and they’ve now been officially credited to my 3 day account.  I’m at $710 - so give or take $20 - 1/3 of the way to my $2200 goal.

It’s tough trying to find a balance between fundraising and training in life - and mine is busy.  Moving my mother this weekend, moving my own family next month - I need to make more time to train, or I’m not going to be ready in October!

It took three & half hours (7:36 AM to 11:05 AM), but it was finally done.  I was 100% determined to walk 10 miles or else.  I had my little one with me, so not only did I walk 10 miles, I pushed 45 lbs along the way.  My only comment is I won’t be pushing 45 lbs again & I’d recommend 5 miles then resting for the next 5 miles.

The last half hour was very hard and I was very HOT and Krista by this time was bored and getting on my last nerve.  I had Chris meet me at the club house so we had lunch after I was done.  It was hard to eat since I was so hot.  I wasn’t that tired afterwards, as a matter of fact  I went home and did laundry the rest of the day, with no nap!  The feeling of accomplishment was more satisfying then I can explain.

Cheryl & I are doing 10 miles Sunday morning @ 7:30AM and I’m looking forward to it.

I did 7 miles yesterday morning on the trail by my house. Over that 7 miles I spied numerous lizards & gray squirrels, 2 armadillos (dead), 2 White Ibis, 1 Blue Heron, 1 Osprey, and 1 American Alligator. The Gator made me step up my pace a bit!
