I’ve been slacking off in the 3 day department. We moved over the long weekend into a new house, so everything else fell by the wayside. It’s been hard to be motivated to be outside at ALL, because it’s 90+ frigging degrees outside. I’ve gotta start walking at 10pm or something I guess…? Our house is a 2 story, so at least I’m getting SOME sort of workout by going up and down the stairs all day long.
Like Cheryl mentioned, we did go to the expo and that was pretty neat. I got some New Balance shorts there for less than $10 a pair - lightweight, rayon-ish material that should be nice and cool for walking. I’m not sure about the weird built in panty that is inside the shorts - I may end up ripping that out. In my world, panties just are not intended to be attached to shorts.
It’s been awhile since I’ve made an entry. I took a few weeks off, but now I’m back in the walking mode again. I’m excited - I’ve actually found someone in my neighborhood to walk with me every morning at 5:30AM, Monday-Friday. Insane! We have our 5 mile walk every morning mapped out. I’m doing this for the 3 Day walk and to help lose weight..I need to get healthly!
I raised another $100 this weekend with my yard sale and I was very pleased on how many people just came up and donated extra.
Today I went over my initial $2200 goal, by five dollars!! I have now met the minimum requirement to walk in the 3 day. I would like to thank all of my friends and family for thier generous donations to this important cause, and I am not stopping here, so if you promised me a donation, please follow through on that, as this is money well spent!
We attended the official kick off event / expo for Tampa this past Sunday. It was pretty cool, they had it set up like a convention with different booths where you could register as a walker or volunteer, they had a corner with a tent, and a “how to” on pitching the tent, tear jerking video of previous walks, fundraising tips, samples of snacks (Pria Bar = Nasty!), and the largest area was for the “official” outfitters (New Balance). Colleen got some shorts she had been looking for, I got a hat, and Dana got shorts and a pink shirt! We also got buttons that read “I’m doing 60 in ‘06″…and pink shoelaces! It’s a good event, and we got to meet a lot of nice people..bring your family and show them what you are doing!
It wasn’t as good as expected…but oh well. Cheryl took home $100 and she’s only $50 or so away from her goal now. I took home around $200 - I need to make the donation now. It was a hot day, and the worst part of it were the rude people. I don’t care if you don’t make a donation, but don’t blatently ignore me when I smile and say hello to you. People like that make a long day even longer!
Well, a few firsts here… walking AND posting! I know I’m late getting online here.. but I finally did. I’ve finally started to train on a regular basis and I’ve done my second round of emails for fundraising, my grand total is just over $800–still a lot to raise. I also saw that Hudson Outfitters is having their Thorlos buy 3 get one free deal… but I didnt get any, yet…
We will be holding another fundraiser tomorrow (Saturday May 6) at the Brooker Creek Publix (East Lake Rd & Ridgemoor Dr in Palm Harbor), we’ll be out there from 10-5..come out and meet us, share your story and make a donation!
Our weekend fundraiser at the Mitchell Ranch Publix was a big success. Our two day total was $869, which we divided up - and my share put me over the halfway point. I uploaded our pictures to my Flickr account, and they’re right here…but I’m also going to share them here
