One of the restricted items for the 3Day – cell phones. Wah! (There are many restricted items – no cell phones, IPods, WalkMans, hairdryers…there was a whole table full of “what not to bring” at Expo.)
So I just plan to leave my cell phone at home. Which leaves me not being able to call my husband before/after the walk from my hotel without paying ridiculous hotel long distance.
Enter:

and their International prepaid calling cards!
The name made sound like a game from “The Price Is Right”, but they mean business. I’ll get 4 hours of “talking” for free just for signing up, which means I talk for free from my 3Day hotel. They offer international prepaid calling cards and regular prepaid calling cards. You don’t need a pin number, and they provide both local and toll free access. Refer a friend, and get $5 in free calls! Calls anywhere in the continental US are only 2.2 cents per MINUTE!
A steal of a deal for this trip, and all future trips!
What started out as a weekend at Disney with no training scheduled….actually ended up being a walking weekend for me! Walked all over 2 Disney parks for 2 days. RAN to my car and back (at least a half mile each way) when one of my young cousins forgot her ticket in the hotel and I had to go back and get it, and when it was time to leave for the day, I opted to walk to my car and not take the tram.
I haven’t been to the chiropractor since we moved. Oops! I was going pretty regularly back in the spring due to some muscle pain I was getting during exercise. He diagnosed me with scoliosis as the major reason for my back pain. Yeah, I was surprised to find out I had it too – you expect to learn that when you’re a teen, not when you’re almost 30. My back pain is much better, no doubt in part due to the adjustments I received. And bonus - the doctor was a total hottie.
If anyone reading this hails from the NYC area, you can check out this website for Physical therapy in New York. I can’t promise you a Dr. Hottie, but I am a convert to chiropractic medicine!
I think I’m going to be trading in my size 8 sneakers for a size larger before the walk. I’ve noticed with the super thick Thorlo socks I wear, my toes just don’t have as much wiggle room as I’d like. I’m concerned that my feet will swell on the walk and my shoes won’t be confy at all. I’ll still get plenty of use out of the size I have now - they’re super comfy and I’ll wear them regardless, just not with the Thorlos!
Is with my allergies. They aren’t too bad in the summer, but I was a mess walking this spring. Everytime I spent any length of time outside to get miles on my feet, I’d breathe in tons of junk – pollen, dust, spores – you name it, I’m allergice to it. I started taking a Claritin in advance when I’d walk, just in case. It’s hard to get motivated to go outside when you know it’s going to end up causing you to sniffle and sneeze all day.
For the inside, a system like the Ionic Pro is just the thing to purify the air of allegens. With 2 dogs and plenty of dust flying around in the house, it’s definitely needed. Too bad I can’t take it with me on a walk and use it to purify all the air within a 10 foot radius!
Big house o’ slackers here. Jim didn’t get in til after midnight so we slept in this morning. Yeah, we’re not exactly early risers up here!
If you’re in need of any last minute items for the big walk (only 8 weeks away!), I found a great website with coupon codes for almost any online retailer you could imagine. I know Cheryl was having issues finding the Champion panties in the store, so maybe your luck would be better online using this Target coupon code for 10% off your purchase.
I imagine with shipping you’re not really saving that much – it would be nice if Target could come up with a better deal!
My husband wants to get up early and go on a training walk tomorrow. I’m scared!
Since I’m relatively new to the world of working out and fitness, I don’t really know much about equipment, other than what I use at the YMCA (uhh…when I make it to the YMCA!) I saw that Keiser Performance Equipment was featured in the latest edition of Sports Illustrated. It’s the preferred brand for many top sports stars and training facilities.
I checked out the lower body information on their website, as that’s where my focus is right now with my walk coming up in 8 weeks. Their machines will assist with strength and power development, joint stabilization, and for sport specific needs.
Their TrekMill is a lot nicer than the treadmill I’ve been using too – it allows you to set inclines of up to 50% and has preprogrammed hikes as well.

All monies raised through tickets sales and silent auctions will go to the Susan Cheek Needler Breast Center at Morton Plant Mease. First 1500 women in the gate get a PINK Commemorative Ballcap!
