I was really stressing about the 35 pound bag limit for the 3Day, so when I was in the airport last week, I measured my duffle bag (very heavy) and my overflowing suitcase.  Neither one was even close to 35 lbs, and they both contained all sorts of things I will NOT be bringing to the 3Day, so I’m not so stressed about it anymore.  Weigh your bag on your bathroom scale before you head off to the 3-Day; your bag should only weigh 35 pounds or less.  Here are a few tips to assure your bag weighs 35 pounds or less…

  • Keep an eye on the weather and only bring what you will need for the event.
  • There is no electricity in camp so leave your hair dryer at home.
  • Talk to your tent mate before the event to make sure you are both not packing the same thing.

Why 35 Pounds?

You ask why it is so important to keep your bag at or under 35 pounds?  You are walking approximately 20 miles each day.  When you get back to camp, you carry your own bag and tent to your tent address.  Now, you may luck out and your tent may be close to the gear trucks, but then again, it may not.

Also keep in mind your loving Crew.  The gear and tent crew team will not only be loading and unloading your bag, but everyone’s bag, and there are thousands of you…so love your Crew, not only on the event, but also before the event when you pack your bag.  When you arrive at Opening and you drop your bag off at the appropriate gear truck, thank the Crew and wish them luck.
