PayPerPost announced today they’re looking for a postie willing to get hitched in Vegas. Man, if I weren’t already married, you know I’d do it! Can you imagine how off the hook a payperpost wedding will be? You can submit your story online for consideration, and the powers that be at PayPerPost will pick their favorite. The winner will receive:

  • The wedding license and ceremony
  • One nights stay at a premium Vegas Hotel
  • $1000.00 hard cold cash yours to spend any way you want.
  • Of course, your wedding will be taped and streamed to the world on the PayPerPost website. I can’t wait to see this, and I’m hoping that Julie is the winner :-)

I know most of you are snickering, and wondering what the heck we could need a humidifier for here in Florida. But when the temps go down, it does get quite a bit dryer here. I’ve been getting up every morning this week with dry, cracked lips, and the skin on my hands isn’t looking so great either – it’s been so dry out! (On the plus side – dry air = good hair days!) When the kids get sick I use a humidifier then also, with a little liquid vaporub in it to help sooth their sore throats. If you don’t have a humidifier, you can read this complete guide to buying a house humidifier. They recommend a model with a humidity meter so that you can choose the level of moisture you want in the air, as well as a low water indicator, and an automatic shut off.

I’m going to attempt to get up a few more pictures on here today. I know most people don’t want to go through 3 albums and 700 pictures to see our 3Day highlights. Bear with me – cropping and uploading and resizing take time. I’ll get to it soon though!

I came across this site this afternoon and they have such a cute idea for a personalised baby gift, or even something for a small child. You provide the name of the baby, and they illustrate it and frame it. The entire piece is personalized – you pick a theme (princesses, toys, nautical, christening) and they’ll make a unique gift that any new mom or dad will treasure for years to come. My girls had something similar to this in their rooms and it was just the cutest thing ever. And I’ll let you in on a mom secret – we love to get things with our children’s names on them. You can’t go wrong!

One of my online blogging buddies, Cass, gave me a donation last night to kickstart my final push towards $2200. Thanks Cass! In addition to being a fabulous mother and blogger who supports breast cancer research, Cass is a knitter, so go check out her beautiful creations!

It’s true – many doctors recommend a glass of wine each day. Red wine, in particular, has “anti-cancer” properties because the skin of the grape is maintained during the wine making process. Drinking too much wine won’t help you – so of course, drink in moderation. And when you think about the mass quantities of wine consumed in Europe, it makes sense that the people there have a low incidence of cardiovascular disease, which is also linked to red wine consumption. If you’re going to buy red wine, buy something decent – and don’t buy it at your local grocery store. To see the best wines the world has to offer, you can visit WineAuctionPrices.com to search for and view the wines offered at auction, the prices, and the condition of the bottles sold. Wine lovers, or wine wannabes and use this data to make an informed purchase. Or just look for a new red wine to enjoy at home!

I mentioned in another post that I can’t wear contact lenses any more due to an eye injury. I had a lovely little cornea ulcer thing a few years back that basically blinded me in one eye for weeks. Due to that, I’m not vey big on contacts anymore unless it’s for a very short time period where I can’t where glasses – like when I went snorkling on vacation. However, I would absolutely never consider wearing theatrical contact lenses, unless it was for a special event like Halloween. And obviously, if I did wear them, they would have to be prescription contact lenses, or else I’d be blind. I’m very leery of messing with contact lenses or putting anything in my eyes anymore – being threatened with a cornea transplant by your eye doctor will do that to you!

Til I’m officially DONE fundraising for the 2006 walk. Raising $2200 has taught me a few lessons. Next year, I will definitely start a LOT earlier. Like, next month. And I won’t be afraid to follow up with people who promised me donations. Some people just need to be reminded 3 or 4 times!
