I’ve been trying to convince my husband to go to a sleep clinic for a long time. He needs to be shown how horrible he sleeps at night! Tossing, turning, snoring - it’s crazy. I wish I could do a video of it. And drooling…he’d like to say it’s because he’s dreaming of me, but it’s really because he’s a mouth breather. He went to an ENT several years ago and found out he has a deviated septum which contributes to his breathing issues, but he’s not interested in having the surgery to correct it. Probably because his sleep isn’t being interrupted by it - but mine is! Drooling In Sleep can be because of your posture, or dental issues, or even because you’re sick. You swallow less per night than you do when you’re awake so all of that saliva builds up in your mouth and sometimes ends up on your pillow!![]()
I found this neat “unofficial” 3 day site online today. It was put together by a crew member for the Boston 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk. It’s neat to hear about the walk from a non-walker, who worked just as hard as we did! I could see doing crew one year - I’ll bet it would be a lot of fun.
My son wrote down “motor scooter” on his list for Santa this year. He’s only seven, so he won’t be getting one…but I’ll admit, I was tempted to get him one, just so I could ride it! I could totally see myself causing trouble around the neighborhood on one of these extreme scooters! Or this electric bike, billed as the X-Treme XB-350. Or even one like this little X-Treme X-360. Why use the car to go to the grocery store when I can do it the fun way? Check out more at X-Treme Scooters - one just might make it’s way onto MY list for Santa! Wouldn’t that be a riot?
This time last year, my sister and I did a 5K that marked the start of our 3day training. The Turkey Trot is an annual walk/run held in Clearwater, FL on Thanksgiving morning. We didn’t do it this year because she went out of town for Thanksgiving, but also, since I’ve moved, I’m quite a bit further away from the location of the walk. Third reason - after doing the 3day, a 5K is barely a warmup!
My mom is shopping for a new computer, and she’s currently got a Dell. She got a steal of a deal on it a few years back, but it’s time to update it. Computers have just changed SO much in the past few years. She’s been checking out the Dell coupons we’ve seen online and waiting for a super deal to come by. I found these Dell Deals which are updated HOURLY - that’s coupon code dedication! (Try saying Dell Deals three times fast…LOL!)
Of walking the mall. It wasn’t as crowded today, so I was able to keep my “training pace” up. Next weekend, we’ll be at Disney, and it will be the first weekend since I’ve done the 3 day that I’ll be walking for 3 days in a row. Obviously not as far, or as much, but walking all the same. I’m wearing my comfy sneakers for sure!
I just ordered a new scrapbook album to put all of the pictures from the 2006 3Day walk in. I’m going to be going back over this blog as I insert all of the pictures into the album, so that I can journal a lot and really share the detail of each picture in words. This blog will come in handy then, I’m sure!
If you’re a fellow 3 day walker, you don’t need a blog like this one just to journal or write our your thoughts. For me, it’s easier to type, than to write. I get writer’s cramp in a matter of minutes! You can keep an online diary even without a website or blog like this one by using InboxJournal.com to input entries via email. You can save them, view them, or share them with others. Consider it your private online diary!
With the Thanksgiving holiday? Did you keep your eating in check? I think my husband over-indulged a bit, but I’m sure he’ll make up for it with his jogging. He’s doing about 2 miles now, at least 3 or 4 times a week. I think that over doing it on a holiday is ok, as long as you make up for it later in the week.
I’m a huge fan of tea. Mostly iced, and sweetened, but I’ve been known to branch out from time to time. While in the UK, we drank hot tea daily. And my mom and I used to frequent a Chinese restaurant that had green tea. We ended up buying some to keep at home and would drink it from time to time. It can be a bit bitter when you drink it hot, but it has amazing health benefits, which is why, I suppose, you’re seeing it hit the grocery stores now, in a cold drink format. The benefits of green tea include:
Preventing your normal calls from becoming cancerous, guards against free radicals, keeps your blood sugar down, controls cholesterol, keeps you “regular”, and it a natural preservative. (Must be why the Chinese live so long?)
If you’re a tea drinker, and I am, you can substitute your “regular” tea for green tea and enjoy the added health benefits. It’s as stimulating as coffee or soda, but a lot better for you.
I got a LOT of walking in today during my shopping. It wasn’t a training pace so to speak, it was more like a 3 day pace - lots of slower walkers keeping me from walking fast, and lots of “on your left”. Ha! Remember when people used to actually walk in the mall for exercise? We had groups that met at the mall bright and early and would do a few laps around. I couldn’t do that without stopping to shop!
