One of my fondest childhood memories is of spending holidays at my Mormor’s house. When we visited her for Thanksgiving, we’d go to her winter home in Pensacola – I loved going there because it meant visiting with my Great Aunt Bunny and Uncle Jack too. Aunt Bunny was Mormor’s “cooler” younger sister who pretty much let me have the run of her house. My favorite part of being there was getting to hang out in her master bedroom watching movies while the grownups visited. It was the first time I had seen twin beds in a master bedrooms, and they were adjustable too! I had the time of my 8 year old life adjusting those beds up and down and back and forth, and Aunt Bunny didn’t care at all. At the time, I remember thinking how cool those beds were, and that I was going to get one when I was a grown up.

Well, I’m 30 now, and I don’t have an adjustable bed. I know now that people buy them for the health benefits, and not for the movie watching benefits. Depending on your mattress preference, you can top off your adjustable bed with memory foam, air, latex, or a traditional inner spring mattress. Here’s a handy guide you can use called Understanding Adjustable Beds to figure out what you need to look for, and what to avoid. If you’ve got a bad back or other health issues, this type of bed could make the difference between being well rested, and having big bags under your eyes from a lack of sleep!
