To rent, that is! We were lucky enough to join friends at a beach house down south of here a few years back - the Bradenton/Sarasota/Anna Maria Island area is SUCH a beautiful place to visit! One of these Bradenton vacation rentals is on Anna Maria Island, which is a great place to see wild dolphins. The whole island is very cozy and it’s own little community - it’s not a place for wild nights and high rise resorts…which is just the reason I like it. There’s also a 96 acre park there. We really enjoyed our time there - walking down the streets at night to the quiet local bars, or driving to Siesta Key, shelling in the mornings, lounging in a hammock in the afternoon…I could get used to that kind of life.

I may have found someone locally interested in working out at the YMCA with me - yay! She does spinning every night, and while I can’t deal with that kind of schedule, I am interested in getting to the gym 2 or 3 nights a week, at least. Having someone to meet me there will force me to go!

If you could email anyone, who would you choose to contact? For me, the answer is simple. I’d contact my future self and ask her all sorts of questions, and find out details to give me an edge in life now. I’d caution her to not tell me too much, because I do like a good surprise, but I’d like just enough knowledge to avoid mistakes and hurt, and maximize fun and happiness. I wouldn’t want to know bad things…but I’d want to know what to do to avoid bad things…does that make sense? For instance, don’t tell me I’m going to be in a horrible car accident…but do tell me to avoid the intersection of Main Street and 1st Avenue at this date and time.

Wouldn’t that be sweet? This post brought to you on behalf of MindComet and their email marketing. Excellent question guys - two thumbs up!

We’ve got 2 days til our first fundraiser for the 2007 3Day! I saved everything from last year, so preparing is just a matter of putting the items off the shelf in my garage and loading them into my truck. We’ve got a pink tablecloth for our folding table, containers for money, and our poster from last year too. After this fundraiser, I plan to update our poster with pictures from the 2006 walk.

I am proud to say that I’ve used my breasts for something other than attracting attention from men. More than just filling out a tight shirt. More than just an excuse to buy a pretty bra.

Yes, for the first few months of each of my children’s lives, they relied on me and my breasts for nourishment. It certainly wasn’t easy, but breastfeeding my kids was one of the best things I could do for them at that time. I almost gave up…when my oldest was about a week old, I got a horrible fever of 104, and flu like symptoms. I went back to the doctor to make sure I didn’t have an infection. It turned out that I had mastitis…but the only thing to do was to nurse through the pain.

Nursing got a little tougher with each baby - it’s hard to sit down for a while and feed your newborn when you have 2 little girls clamoring for your attention, so I borrowed a Medela Pump In Style from a friend and would pump from time to time. I could have used a site with breast pump reviews back then, as the first two pumps I tried were horrid, and hurt terribly, and didn’t produce results. The Medela was worth it’s weight in gold, and it’s come down quite a bit in price over the last few years, making it a lot more affordable. Another thing I could have used was advice and information on storing breastmilk and how to pump, especially as a relatively clueless first time mom! It’s fantastic to see all of this information in one spot to help moms who are considering purchasing a pump.

Remember how I set a person goal to have raised $500 by the end of January? I’m happy to announce that I met my goal - I actually had 3 people take notice that my fundraising today was at $95, and they each contributed a little something to help me out.

First - my daughters. I mentioned at dinner last night that I was $5 away from my goal, and BOTH of my daughters went and got their own money and presented it to me. My oldest also put in $5 for my team mate, Sindy, and $5 for my sister. After dinner, I checked my email, and there was a little something from Marcus as well!

Because I raised $500 in my first 60 days of fundraising, I now will receive a special pink lanyard to wear during the walk to show off that achievement!

My husband and I have been looking into getting away without the kids this year, since we didn’t get to do anything special for our 10th anniversary last year. He thought skiing would be nice…and I agree! I didn’t even realize how many states had ski resorts - I had no clue that Minnesota and Maine offered skiing. There are lots of winter hotels online that specialize in catering to the ski crowd - some you can even ski in and ski out of - now that’s service! We’ve never been to Canada, so he was checking our resorts in the Canadian Rockies, and that area. Quite a bit different from the skiing we did earlier this month in January. I wonder if skiing counts as working out for the 3Day? It definitely IS a workout - every muscle in my body was sore the last time we went.

Well, I don’t HAVE the donation yet, but it’s coming! We had a friend of my daughters here over for the weekend, and when she heard I was walking in the 3Day, she mentioned her mom had walked previously. When I saw her mom that night, I asked her if she was walking this year, and she’s not, so she said she’d sponsor me! Gotta love that. I’m only $5 dollars away from my January goal of $500 - I’m amazed at how well fundraising is going for me this time around!

One of the best parts about the 3Day was the opening ceremonies - it’s hard to get motivated about walking 60 miles, especially when you’re standing in the rain, freezing your tush off, but they do a good job of it. The whole thing pumps you up and keeps you going for 3 days!

This guy, Mark Hughes, is one of the coolest professional speakers I’ve heard about. He motivated the town of Halfway, Oregon to rename themselves to Half.com, Oregon. Now I’ll be he could teach us a thing or two about motivating ourselves - be it to walk 60 miles, start a business, or whatever else we can dream up!

I wore my 3Day t-shirt out and about today, and when I dropped my son off at a friend’s house, the mom asked me about it. She was really interested in walking or being a part of the crew, so we chatted for a bit about the requirements and I told her all about the 3Day last year. It’s nice to know that a connection was made because of that shirt - I love wearing it and showing people that I walked for 60 miles!
