We called 3 of our credit card companies this week to close our accounts. We have a zero balance on each of the credit cards, and didn’t want to continue paying the annual fee. When we told the reps this, at each company, they removed the annual fee. Just like that! In other credit card news, did you know more people are opting to use the equity in their home for extra cash, instead of using a credit card? I guess it would depend for us, on how much getting to that equity was going to cost up front. We’ve been able to get cards with 0% balance transfers, and as long as you keep switching the balance from card to card, you can pay it off without every paying interest. It’s a good strategy, but you can’t miss a payment, or you’ll often lose out on the promotional terms as punishment!
