Today is a perfect day for walking. For the past few days, the weather here in Tampa has dipped down into the low 70’s, and the humidity is non existent. It’s going to be a beautiful Easter! I hope the weather lasts for next weekend, when my husband and I head to Orlando for our anniversary trip. Or even through the end of the month, when I have plans for a training walk in Tampa.
Does anyone know of groups like Make A Wish that handle adult wishes? I was asked if I did, but I can’t think of any. Living in Florida, we hear about groups like this all the time doing things for kids and their families at Disney, but I don’t know that there are any that work with adult wishes. That’s a shame, because it’s just as important for the kids of adults with an illness to be thought of when their mom or dad is sick.
I don’t consider myself to be an expert on fundraising, but I guess others do! I met a friend today to give her some pants that are too big for my son. She offered to alter them for free, if I’d share some tips and ideas for fundraiser with her, for a charity she’s involved in. Well, SURE! I guess after 2 years of the 3-Day, I do have a few good ideas about raising money, and I shouldn’t sell myself short.
We’re meeting up next week so she can pick my brain.
My daughter had laser surgery this week. She was tongue tied and so she had a frenectomy, which is fancy dentist talk for “snipping extra skin”. I got to see the whole thing, which was SO cool. Because it was done with a laser, there wasn’t any blood. The whole thing was done in about 10 minutes and she has just a single stitch in her mouth…more to prevent things from healing back the way they were.
My son is having the same procedure this week. Hopefully he’s as brave as his big sister was!

I had another local walker get in touch with me today about training in town. Last week, I was on the call to become a training walk leader, so now, I just need to submit my walk plan and get something scheduled. It’s getting to be so hot, and I don’t want to do much during the summer, so I’d like to get a few walks in now before the heat is too bad. Or else I’m going to be planning walks for 5am and midnight so we can avoid the sun.
I’m adding another name to my sidebar of donations right now. This time it’s a big fat $50 donation from Eric and the gang over at Executive Gaming Monthly. I’m less than $700 from my $2200 goal right now, thanks to all of you!
If you want to be listed in my sidebar for donations, it’s easy – just donate $20 to my 3-Day walk, and I’ll hook you up! You can make your donation online at http://www.the3day.org/tampabay07/colleenc
My husband finally made it to his sleep study this weekend. Yes, he was supposed to do it a week ago, but someone didn’t bring home the directions to the center! So we rescheduled, and he went Sunday night.
The initial results show that he is losing oxygen when he breathes, and that’s why he never feels well rested. We’ll know more after he goes back to the doctor, and that’s when we will find out if he’s going to go back for a second sleep study to try out a CPAP machine.
