Unruly teens. They’re everywhere…and I know, because I was a substitute teacher for a whole, and got stuck with a lot of them when I did dropout prevention. What options do parents have when they can’t control their young adult anymore? You can’t kick a child out onto the street, but if what you’re saying isn’t being heard, it might be time to try a different tactic. One such popular idea is sending your child to one of the troubled teen boot camps in your area. Remember when Andrew on Desperate Housewives went to one? Obviously, that was a TV show, but the idea of desperate parents at their wits end is something that is very real. I hope to never get to that point with my kids of course, but it’s nice to know there’s a safe last resort out there for parents who have reached the end of their rope. The site also lists alternatives to boot camp, like boarding school and wilderness programs. You’ll find information on what to expect from a boot camp, and if it will work for your child. Boot camp is a short term program that may have a big long term effect on your child, and it’s worth a shot if you’ve tried everything else.
