I hope that when I go to the 3DayWalk this year, and if I need a hotel like last year, that it’s NOT room 1408. In fact, I’d be quite pleased to never, ever stay in a room 1408, in any hotel, for the rest of my life! Why the apprehension about room 1408? If you haven’t read the Stephen King novella, the 1408 Movie will make you feel the same way about room 1408. I don’t know how Stephen King comes up with this stuff. If asked to tell you a scary story, I’d recycle that one about the couple on Lover’s Lane, and hearing on the radio about the escaped mental patient, so they stay in the car all night, and find the hook on the car door in the morning? I heard that at a sleepover when I was about 9 and didn’t sleep ALL night long. Yeah, I’m not really original as far as the scary stuff goes. Good thing people like Stephen King are!
In the 1408 Movie movie, you’ll meet a ghost hunter out to prove ghosts don’t exist, and some ghosts out to prove him wrong. There’s no couple on Lover’s Lane, there’s no hook on a door handle, but I watched the trailer and actually jumped in my seat a few times because it unnerved me so. I really dig the whole suspense thing, and not know what will happen, or what can happen, or why it’s even happening. And John Cusack is the right guy for the role too - everyone loves him, but he’s really talented and can play a lot of different types. (Ever see him as a hit man in Grosse Point Blank?)

Love John Cusack in just about anything! But he’s wonderful in Grosse Pointe Blank. Watched “Say Anything” for the millionth time last night.
I never miss one of his movies…

This trailer completely freaked me out! Especially the part where Cusack is on the computer with his girlfriend and she’s telling him that the police are in room 1408 and it’s empty…ack…creep me out!

The problem is most King books don’t translate well to movies except for a handful of his films.
