March Madness is here - basketball brackets and pools are everywhere! I’m in a bracket for work and I’m waiting on my husband’s advice to pick my teams. Otherwise, it’s going to be who was the cutest players and prettiest uniforms. Ha! My son is going to a basketball camp during Spring Break and he’s so excited about picking up some tips and playing with friends for a week straight. Spring has definitely sprung. For us, it means more time for our portable backboard to be placed in front of the house. I sure wish we could ditch it and get in-ground basketball goals…if not in our yard, in the green space in our community. This basketball equipment is the real deal - heavy-duty and built to last. And it’s on sale to celebrate the men’s NCAA tourney. If you’ve got kids crazy about basketball, this pro style hoop can be yours for just $1449.00. It adjusts for all ages and heights and is strong enough to let a man hang off the rim. (Good to know, if you’ve got a pro b-ball wannabe in your house! After all, my basketball nut of a son isn’t going to be 48 pounds for ever - someday, he’s going to be a big, sweaty, stinky basketball wannabe pro!)![]()
As some of you may know, my husband is a golfer. He doesn’t have a lot of time to play with the family and work, but he does love the game. I worry that when we retire, he’s going to attempt to move me into a golfing community, and I’ll be a golf widow. I guess I can chat with the other ladies when that time comes…provided they aren’t golfing! He’d love to live in a golf course community when he’s not working…you pay a little bit of a premium to live in a community like that, but imagine walking out into your backyard and looking out across a beautifully manicured golf course…that’s some extended backyard!
If you’re looking for that kind of lifestyle, retired or not, be sure to check out these golf homes. Absolutely gorgeous! The site lists the best of the best in golf course communities across the USA, from links in Las Vegas to fairways in Florida. I checked out my state and there was a nice selection of homes and communities all around the state, with lots of community info on each to help you make informed choices. If I could live in a house like this one in on a Henderson, Nevada golf course…wow, I’d never want to leave home again! Holy moly! Not everything is a palace like that, but golf course living certainly is a nice lifestyle to enjoy…I think I could stand being a golf widow after all

The California Women’s Gymnastics Team is flipping for the cure! Their upcoming meet against Washington on Sunday 2/18 has been designated their Breast Cancer Awareness Meet. The team will be asking for flat donations of pledges for each score of 9.5 or above they get. All money will be going to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Fans wearing pink clothing will get into the event for free.
Congratulations to the team for helping out the cause!
Soccer is a great workout - running all over the field, you get your heart pumping something furious. In this house, we don’t play much soccer though, it’s mostly watched. My husband loves to watch the Premiership with stars like David Beckham (before he moved here) and Chistiano Ronaldo. Soccer has a lot of fans, which explains this Cristiano Ronaldo fansite. I’d love to see another popular player like Ronaldo come to the MLS. He’s better than any player we’ve got in the MLS! I checked out Cristiano’s fansite - ROWR! You had me at “hot picture of strapping, muscular foreign guy with his shirt off”. Ronaldo may be 10 years younger than me, but maybe he’s into older women?
The fan site has a few too many ads for my taste, and not enough color. The plain white background is a bit blah - how about some red in there for Manchester United?
Also, not enough pictures of Cristiano with his shirt off.
There’s a new group in London showing people what girl power is all about - and no, they’re not a new version of the Spice Girls. K.I.K.K United FC is an all women football team closing in on the next division. The club is made up of 23 women from England, Sweden, the US, Norway, and a few other locals, and they play and practice in and around London, in the GLWF League. If you have previous football experience (that’s soccer to us Americans!) and two XX chromosmes, they’re looking for a goal keeper right now. Show off your ball kicking skills!![]()
My non-exercising child had a softball game this morning. Her team won quite a bit and she had 4 or 5 turns at bat. She got walked every time, but it’s still nice to see her being active, even if she’s not the most athletic child ever! She loves playing, and that’s what counts. I took a bit of video of her at bat, I’ll try to share it later.
